Story
1 in 5 of us will develop a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute.
I'm fundraising for Asthma + Lung UK. They’re the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
World Asthma day 2024 is on Tuesday the 7th of May.
I am raising money by attempting to break a Guinness world record – The most gyms visited in a city in a 24 hour period. All donations will go Asthma and Lung UK to help continue the sublime work they undertake. I will attempt this record on 10th June
As a child I suffered from Asthma. I needed to be within arms length of my salbutamol inhaler, using it constantly and taking my preventer day and night. I was worried about asthma attacks and struggled to breathe often.
It was difficult to participate in sports and exercise as as I was recovering from a collapsed lung from the early years of my life. With the help of the help of doctors, nurses, family, friends and personal trainers I managed to get past my condition and now live an active lifestyle and have a great love of frequenting gyms and playing sports.
Asthma affects the airways that carry air in and out of your lungs. It is a very common long-term lung condition and in the UK, 5.4 million people suffer from it. That's one in every 12 adults and one in every 11 children. Around 4% of people with asthma have it severely.
43,000 early deaths attributed to air pollution every year. 1 in every 5 people who will have a lung condition in their lifetime. 5.4 million people in the UK live with asthma.
I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
Let's make a change.
Thank you
