Story
Being homeless any time of year is horrible. It can be particularly deadly during winter time. Please help towards getting someone housed by giving generously. All money raised goes towards ending homelessness with the charity Crisis.
The Sea Snails have gotten together to take part in the relay. The team includes Eva Jonsson, Leo Fitzpatrick, Petrina Fitzpatrick and Matthew Bramwell
Eva has worked with the homeless since 2019, winter is their busiest time. She is doing this cold water swim as she knows how underfunded the sector is and how fundraising like this can help house those in need.
Petrina works in theater and has done outreach work with Clean Break in the past. She feels passionately that people should not be made homeless or put into vulnerable positions.
Leo has worked as a socialist campaigner for the last couple years, seeing the effects of austerity and the cost of living crisis on people's lives. Homelessness is not an outcome that anyone would willingly choose but a result of policy choices. While we are not able to overturn policy the next best thing is helping people in need via charity work and fund raising.
Matt works as a social prescriber in the NHS and sees daily the effects that being homeless can have on a person's mental health. He has lots of experience helping people get out of difficult situations by getting them engaged within the community.
