Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The Lensbury are once again taking part in the annual Kingston Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge this summer and are raising money for our charity of the year, The Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital.

We've been competing in the annual Dragon Boat race in Kingston for many years now, with a brilliant turn out from locals and other competitors. Once again we will be entering two teams, with a mixed team (Lensbury Alphas) and women's team (Lensbury Lionesses) set to take to the water. Both teams will be looking to carry on our great success in the event in recent years, with our mixed team coming 2nd last year in the mixed competition and the women bringing home the gold in the women's competition.

The Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital has been a recognised registered charity since 1954 and has been providing essential support for the patients, staff and our local community ever since. The money raised by this brilliant local charity has gone towards enhancing the facilities, services and overall improvements made to Teddington Memorial Hospital, which we would overwise go without with it going above the standard NHS funded baseline. Since the charity’s creation almost 70 years ago, over £8 million has been raised so far and put directly back into the maintaining of this brilliant local facility located in the heart of the community. The charity’s latest project switches its attention to the hospital grounds, with the building and creation of a wellbeing garden for use by patients, families and staff members.

About the charity

We provide vital charity support for our community hospital. We enable and enhance the provision of medical services, facilities and general improvements above the NHS-funded baseline to help ensure the hospital’s long-term future. Over £8 million has been raised since our inception in 1954.
