Lenna's fundraiser for Cardiac Risk in the Young

Brighton Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
13 years ago on the 1st March 2011 one of my best friends Niccy, fell asleep and didn't wake up. Niccy was 33 years old, happy, healthy and with her whole life ahead of her. It was a total shock, a complete tragedy and something you never get over.
I ran the London marathon in 2019 in her name and raised money for Cardiac Risk in the Young, a charity dedicated to the cause. I have decided to challenge myself again, 5 years on, to do the Brighton marathon. I am under no pressure to raise money this time, having bought my place, but it feels apt to raise money again in her memory. Niccy was born in Eastbourne and loved that area of the world. She also loved running, so running by the sea in Brighton will be pretty magical.
With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.
By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
