Story
Following my Mum’s sudden terminal cancer diagnosis at the start of June 2024, she was transferred to The Myton Hospice Coventry for end-of-life care.
Every single person at Myton helped my Mum be comfortable and at ease with her devastating circumstances. Not only this, but they helped support me, my Dad and all of our family.
Mum was looked after so well for the 15 days she spent at Myton. She was comfortable, pain-free and - most importantly for me - maintained her dignity.
This care would have been enough, but Myton went the extra mile. After Mum and Dad decided to finally get married after 30 years, Myton helped co-ordinate a beautiful ceremony that gave us such special memories. On top of this, having heard about Mum’s love of alpacas, they organised for 2 alpacas to visit Mum in the hospice. This took place just 4 days before Mum’s death. To see such a huge smile in her final moments with us was so special and memorable.
The 3 Myton Hospices cost over £11m a year to run and maintain. My dad and I want to do my bit to help them continue to run, so others in my position can be subject to the same incredible things Myton do.
We will be running the following races:
- 6th Oct - Chester Metric Marathon
- 13th Oct - Manchester Half Marathon (just Len)
- 17th Nov - Conwy Half Marathon
Thanks to anyone who supports this cause, which means so much to us.
And finally thank you so much to everyone at The Myton Hospices for what you did for us, and most importantly Mum.
