Story
In May 2022 our friend Ian (44) was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Anybody who has had any experience of this condition will know how horrific the disease is.
There is no test to diagnose MND (for Ian there was 18 months of uncertainty, before the diagnosis was confirmed).
There is also no current cure for the condition.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) have been a holding hand to Ian and the family since diagnosis. They do amazing work and fund everything from national research trials to local grants for life adaptations.
Every penny they spend is for the benefit of MND Warriors.
Ian and his family continually inspire us with their strength, dignity, humour and stoicism throughout the most challenging times imaginable.
With that in mind we jumped at the chance to support Ian in his quest to raise funds and awareness for the MNDA, and to hopefully set a World Record in the process...
** Thanks to everyone's amazing generosity we've raised our target. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far **
*** We're raising our target again! We've been blown away by everyone's support THANK YOU ***
The Challenge
It was either jump out a plane or sit on our backsides for a while and let a golf buggy do the work. Don't judge us, its a really long sit down!
The current World Record for longest 24-hour journey in an electric golf cart is 193.12 km (120 mi) and was set in Florida, United States, on 15 January 2022.
We will attempt to break this by doing laps of the concourse of the Totally Wicked Stadium, the home of the Saints.
Thanks to the generosity and expertise of our friends at Carryway Golf Buggy and Cart Hire, and the unlimited support that we have received from St.Helens R.F.C, we're confident we are going to smash the current record.
The Charity
The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. By sponsoring us your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association, proceeds will then be split 50/50 between the MNDA and the local MNDA Branch (South Lancashire).
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails.
Thank you again
