Story
Thankyou for taking the time to read my page.
On July 6th 2023 I will be attempting to break the official Guinness World Record for fastest female to cycle solo from Lands End to John O'Groats and back.
The current record is 11 days and 13 hours.
Whilst I'm no stranger to endurance events, this is quite a step up for me. To just get close to the record, I'll need to cycle almost 200 miles every day!
To put it into context, the first day takes me to Bristol, the second to North of Manchester, and the third well into Scotland.... add in the joy of the Great British weather, and who knows where I'll get to each day.
I've set up a Facebook page so people can follow progress, and hopefully, technology allowing, the ability for live tracking.
I will be supported by my husband Glyn, and our 2 dogs; Chia, a Springer Spaniel, and Peanut, who is a Spanish Galgo.
Galgos are a Spanish breed of hunting dog. Today they must be one of the most abused dog breeds on the planet. As many as 100,000 are killed in Spain every year, often in gruesome ways. Countless more are abandoned.
Earlier this year the Spanish government passed a new animal welfare law... and excluded hunting dogs. Once again leaving them vulnerable to abuse.
My mission is to raise awareness of these wonderful dogs, and to support the efforts of Galgos Del Sol, a wonderfully efficient and forward thinking charity who I was lucky enough to volunteer with last year.
They rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Galgos right now, and educate the next generation to support the Galgos of the future to end their suffering.
