Leigh's fundraiser for British Divers Marine Life Rescue

Race to the Base - half · 11 May 2025
The Race to the Base is a 13.1 mile trail race through some of the Highland's most wild and beautiful scenery.A combination of rough terrain, steep climbs and wild conditions make this a unique and challenging race . BDMLR Medic and West Ross Assistant Area Coordinator Leigh Sedgley will be one of 250 runners in this inaugral running of the race on 11th May 2025.
Starting in Lochinver, a lovely fishing village on the world-famous NC500 driving route, the fully way-marked trail winds its way past pristine lochs, deer-filled glens, heather-spotted moorland and sparkling rivers on its way to Suilven, one of Scotland's most loved and most iconic mountains.
An out-and-back course, the return route treats you with gorgeous sea views and a trip through Culag Woods before approaching the finsh line on Lochinver's stunning harbourside.
Leigh has been training hard since she entered the race back in November and is confident , bar any mishaps, that she will complete the 13.1 miles within the 4 hour time limit. With a month to go she has already completed some long and challenging runs of 9 to 10 miles. The biggest challenge will be the 250 other people of the narrow tracks and trails.
As an active BDMLR medic involved in numerous seal rescues and a whale and calf monitoring Leigh is well aware of the need for safe, reliable equipment for all the medics in the team so is hoping to raise much needed funds to purchase safety equipment such as life jackets and helmets for the Wester Ross Team.
We hope you can support Leigh and the BDMLR by sponsoring her in this event
Many thanks
