Story
As a family we have decided to run the Leeds 10k on behalf of The Brain Tumour charity. We have sadly lost 2 members of our family much too early to terminal brain tumours, specifically Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme. Kathleen Jean Moore (died 2 Sept 2004) who was my mum and her eldest son, my big bro Brian Jason Moore-Swarray, affectionately known as Barber B (died 25 Sept 2023) who were only 52 and 51 respectively.
We have been particularly unlucky to have the same disease effect two close members of our family. The impact of their deaths has been immense and we are still coming to terms with it. In honour of them, we are bringing a positive to this in the form of the Leeds 10k!!!
This is the team; Cheryl (daughter/sister), Paul (son/brother), Mari (daughter/sister) Chante (niece/grandaughter), Laimar (grandson/son), Niomi (grandaughter/daughter), Sten (son-in-law), Chrissy (grandson-in-law), Parece (niece), George (son-in-law).
Brain Tumours can affect anyone, at any time. They are the single biggest killer of the under 40's in the UK
Every week approx 15 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour in Yorkshire.
Research has been underfunded for brain tumours, with current treatments nearly 40 years old.
We aim to fund world-class research here in Yorkshire to find treatments and a cure. Whilst we do that we will provide support to people living with and affected by brain tumours, emotionally, practically and financially for as long as they need us.
