Story
It’s time to get involved with the Yorkshire One Firm One Day for 2023 - the 14th anniversary of PwC’s annual fundraising and volunteering day. Last year we raised over £10,000, an amazing achievement from all your efforts and this year we hope we can come together as a region to beat this!
There is a brilliant array of fundraising and volunteering activities that you can get involved with this year, happening over the week of 15th May, leading up to the big day on Friday 19th May.
Please use this page to donate your contribution!
The charities we are supporting this year are:
-Samaritans (Leeds)
-Martin House Children's Hospice
-St Gemma's Hospice Leeds
Please see below to find out more about each charity and how your donations can make a huge impact to the lives of the people that use the charities services.
Martin House Children's Hospice
Martin House provides vital care and support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across North, East and West Yorkshire. We support families to celebrate the very best in life, when faced with the very worst.
Martin House doesn’t just provide end of life care, we provide respite breaks, symptom management, emergency and family-led care in a home-from-home environment at the hospice or out in the community. We strive to give families the opportunity to make memories they can treasure for a lifetime and, as NHS funding is limited, we are hugely grateful to our donors and corporate partners for helping us support our children and their families.
Samaritans
Every 90 minutes, someone in the UK ends their own life.
It is Samaritan’s vision that less people die by suicide. We are dedicated to providing an open, safe, confidential and non-judgemental space every day and night of each year, where they will have the opportunity to talk about their thoughts and emotions. The stats show that being listened to can reduce feelings of loneliness and disconnection which can often lead to suicide.
Our local Leeds branch is looking to grow its volunteer base by recruiting, training and mentoring more individuals than ever so that we can keep our phone lines open for even longer to be there for those who are struggling to cope - whenever that may be.
St Gemma's Hospice Leeds
St Gemma’s Hospice is a Leeds-based charity providing expert care and support for local people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. It is the largest hospice in Yorkshire. All care is free of charge and this year’s cost budget is £11m, only around 30% of which comes from the NHS, with the balance needing to be generated from either the charity shops it runs or from fundraising through events and corporate partnerships. As with many charities, the running costs of the hospice are facing a large increase at present, particularly energy and staff costs which means more funds need to be raised so that patient care is not affected.
