Starting on Saturday (Date to be confirmed) I will be replicating the Highlander Lake District Hike. Aiming to complete a 100km trail over two days which includes more than 4.2km of ascent. Its a challenge I aim to Finish and at the same time I hope to raise money for Adventure Aid Nepal.
The Juniper Trust is a volunteer run charity, Please help me to reach my personal target of £1000 as 100% of donations go to projects.
30th April: Unfortunately we had to postpone the challenge due to weather conditions and safety, 40k hike on day 1 in horrendous weather was a challenge in itself.
Challenge 'TO BE CONTINUED'!!!!!! Dates to follow⛰️
Story
At Adventure Aid Nepal, we offer sustainable low-impact volunteering to support the poorest communities, particularly schools and children that have received little outside help since the earthquake of 2015. We provide safe, responsible and affordable volunteering, working alongside the charity Juniper Trust who are rebuilding schools in some of the most deprived areas of Nepal.
In 2022 our focus was to help with the completion of Juniper Trust 19th school in the remote village of Maili, where the 90 students have been using a temporary school for their education since the earthquake in April 2015. The three-classroom school was completed in time for our group to help with the finishing touches in November 2022 (see blog from the 2022 AAN volunteering group).
The 2023 AAN trip will be a special one as we will help decorate and provide uniforms, school equipment and a new library for Juniper Trusts 20th school
We hope to raise £15,000 to purchase and deliver new uniforms and equipment for 200 children (it costs just £25 to giver a child new hope with a school uniform, shoes, rucksack, pencils and books), painting 2 schools and 6 classrooms, to provide a new community library of 1,000 books and to buy and help plant 3,000 fruit saplings during our visit. The saplings, a mixture of Walnut, Pecan, Peach, Plum, Sichuan Pepper, Mandarin and Lapsi, will generate fruit income for up to 10 years as they grow.
The Juniper Trust is run by volunteers, 98% of donations go to projects.
