I am hoping to raise some much needed funds to keep the charity Safeline’s national male survivor helpline open. I first used this service in 2021, when I first reported the historic abuse I suffered as a teenager. This being a helpline dedicated entirely to male survivors and those who identify as male, really gave me the much needed boost to share my feelings and it was one less barrier for me to really begin healing and begin to live a more fulfilling life. It is no exaggeration to say that this service literally saved my life and gave me the compassion I desperately needed at the time.

Recently the government announced their plans to end the funding for this service. There rationale being that there are other gender neutral services out there. However, the male experience of abuse is different and requires and different kind of empathy and approach. Therefore, I strongly argue this service is vital, otherwise there will be one less resource available for myself and other men out there who are navigating their past traumas
