Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Leah, Lucy and I, will be attempting the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge in September to raise money for the Epilepsy Society.
Totalling 24.5 miles and including 3 mountains, the physical challenge is one thing, but our useless sense of direction is another.
Epilepsy is a condition that has profoundly impacted my life, both professionally and personally. This neurological condition can have significant, often life-changing, effects, limiting opportunities and reducing quality of life.
The Everyday Challenges of Living with Epilepsy
For individuals with epilepsy, daily activities that many of us take for granted can be challenging or even impossible. Driving, swimming, attending a cinema, or enjoying a music concert may pose serious risks. These limitations can lead to isolation, impacting not only their independence but also their social lives.
Impact on Children
In children, epilepsy can hinder the development of language and social communication skills. Frequent seizures and medication side effects can disrupt learning, making it difficult for children to reach their full potential. The stigma associated with epilepsy can also lead to bullying and social exclusion, affecting their emotional well-being and self-confidence.
Epilepsy Society: A Vision for a Better Future
The Epilepsy Society is dedicated to providing comprehensive care, support, advocacy, and cutting-edge research. Our vision is "a world where epilepsy is irrelevant, and people with epilepsy lead the lives they want to lead."
