Leah's fundraiser for Anthony Nolan

After 7 years of avoiding going for a run and making all the excuses, losing friends and loved ones at such young ages really puts things into perspective. I decided this year was going to be the year I appreciate my health and the ability I have to move and I thought, what better incentive than to raise money for a well deserving charity?
So with that, I will be taking part in the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run (10km) 26th May and also The Great North Run (26.2km) 8th September to raise funds for Anthony Nolan.
Everyone one of us has been and/or will be affected by cancer in one way or another - 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime. That's why I have chosen a charity I feel already makes such a huge difference that WE can help, not only by raising money to help them continue this work, but an opportunity as an individual to potentially match with someone who needs a life saving transplant. It could be any of us on either end of the stick!
The funds raised go towards research, improving the lives of people with blood cancer/blood disorders, specialist post transplant support and so much more. It also costs them £40 for adding each new potential donor to the stem cell register.
I know times are hard at the moment so anything is appreciated, but whether you're in a position to donate or not, please consider joining the stem cell register. If you are matched, you could save a life, or many! I will leave a link to their website for you to learn more about the work they do and how to join the register.
"Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day."
