Story

This year, we are supporting life-changing cancer research here at Manchester. On 18 May 2025, we are taking part in the Purplewave – a 10k challenge.

Manchester is already world-leading in its cancer research. Every day our amazing researchers make discoveries that have life-changing impacts the world over. Many feel they are on the cusp of a breakthrough.

But for everything that’s already been achieved, there’s much more left to do. Cancer continues to tear families apart. One in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetimes. In the UK there is a cancer diagnosis every two minutes.

That's why we are taking on the Purplewave challenge, to ensure that The University of Manchester is at the forefront of these breakthroughs. With your support, brilliant people can carry on doing amazing research, which will benefit us all.

So please join us in supporting Manchester's life-changing research by sponsoring our race entries.

Thank you!
