Story
We did it!
The Worshipful Company of Management Consultants Charitable Fund promised to match all donations given by Members (including Gift Aid) up to £3,000 for the Livery Food Initiative, a three-year collaboration by Livery Companies to raise funds for the food redistribution charity, City Harvest.
We have now raised, with Gift Aid, £3,520 so £6,520 has been sent to City Harvest. Many, many thanks to everyone who gave so generously.
So far the Livery Food Initiative has raised in total over £180,000 - enough for us to launch the truck - see the photos below.
As a reminder of our request for funding.....
The need is huge and increasing as CEO Sarah Calcutt describes in this very short video. From this you will see that City Harvest is facing a rapid decline in the food that had been available and is constantly needing to adapt. Regulations mean food suppliers are having to become more efficient and reduce food surpluses. City Harvest now needs to go further back in the supply chain to source food. To do this they are using larger 7.5 tonne trucks which go further afield to gather the food that can then be redistributed by smaller Sprinter vans. In 2023 the Livery Food Initiative raised £190,000 needed to keep a Sprinter van on the road for three years. We are now seeking £270,000 funding for a truck.
