Story
Hi
At the end of April I'll be cycling 300 miles from the National Gallery (where I work) to York Art Gallery this April in support of The National Brain Appeal.
The Gallery2Gallery ride has been organised to bring together members of different teams working on the NG200 capital projects - a major building project at the Gallery taking place in our bicentenary and will conclude in May 2025.
The ride will see us cycle from the National Gallery in London to York Art Gallery, one of the partners of our National Treasures initiative that takes painting around the country, leaving London on Wednesday April 24th and arriving in York on Friday 26th.
I'll be taking on the challenge in support of the The National Brain Appeal with my colleague Alex.
So much is still unknown about the brain and what we can do to prevent neurological and neuromuscular conditions. The charity supports a range of research and a treatment centre for critically ill patients.
Being active is incredibly important to me no doubt instilled from an early age witnessing my mother live with the effects of polio. The freedom to do simple things like riding a bike can be taken for granted especially as we grow older and with neurological conditions being the third most common reason for emergency hospital admission it is something likely to affect many more of us in some form.
Your donation will help support one of the world’s leading centres for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients for things such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, brain cancer, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia.
Thanks for donating, it's very much appreciated.
