Story

I want to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has helped us over the last few years. For those that don’t know we are raising funds to secure immediate medication for our son, Nathaniel. Nathaniel suffers from severe epilepsy. Before we accessed his private prescription for medical cannabis he used to have hundreds of life threatening seizures a day. I’m so pleased to say that Nathaniel no longer suffers from these life threatening seizures anymore, thanks to his private prescription. Unfortunately this comes at a cost of £1473.22 a month. A price far out of our range. Medical cannabis has been legal to prescribe on the NHS since 2018. Unfortunately despite trying everything within my power to obtain an NHS prescription which includes getting the support of MP’s, attending debates in Parliament obtaining support from our GP, & palliative care consultant & literally spending hours writing emails & attending meetings & MDT’s we have still not been able to obtain an NHS prescription. I of course will not give up, as other children have the exact same medication on the NHS that we are currently paying privately for. Although we have had to fundraise & spend literally thousands of £’s, I believe we have not only prevented thousands of seizures but I am certain we have saved Nathaniel’s life & not only that but gave him a good quality of life. He is the happiest little soul & I have all the lovely people who have helped us to thank for that. A huge big special thanks to the Charlie Gard Foundation who run Nathaniel’s charity account & have helped us financially & emotionally.

Over the years we have had so many people helping to raise money for us & believe me when I say this leaves me extremely uncomfortable asking for help, which is why I try everything I can to gain an NHS prescription. I thought it only fair I help some of the amazing people raising money this time by climbing Snowden a week today! This will be a huge challenge for me, as my fitness levels are nonexistent since Nathaniel was born. So if anyone could spare a £1 to boost my moral, keep me focused & most importantly help us to keep Nathaniel well I will be eternally grateful. Thank you for reading. Xx
