Havens is a cause really close to our hearts since having a first hand experience at how amazing they are.
Last November we sadly lost a very special man - Ellie’s Dad/Laura’s Step Dad after a 11 year battle with cancer. After making the difficult decision last summer of where he would like his end of life care to be we began to realise just how special this place was. They provided him with physio, holistic therapy sessions and overnight stays for blood transfusions. Our mum also received counselling, holistic therapy and a group for carers to meet other people going through the same. Havens made their last months together so much easier, they looked forward to visiting together for their sessions. When the time came for end of life care, the amazing doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants took the weight from our mums shoulders to let her become wife again and along with Ellie sit by his side for 6 long days and nights. They truly cared about everyone, the patients and their families and they made those 6 days a little more bearable for us all. It didn’t stop there though, they then went on to provide bereavement support and group meetings to get our mum through some dark times.
Everyone deserves to experience how amazing this place is during such difficult times. But, with Ellie working as a Healthcare Assistant at Fair Havens it is clear just how much they rely on donations to continue providing this level of care.

Havens Hospices provides specialist care and support for people of all ages who are living with incurable conditions and their families. They work closely with health and social care professionals to ensure their care and support is the best it can possibly be, so they can get the most from life, and make every day count.
This care is provided absolutely free of charge, despite only receiving 27% government funding, thanks to the donations they receive.
Havens requires £124,000 each week to provide care for all those that need it. This year it will cost £50,519 to provide one week of care at Fair Havens or Little Havens. Any small donation helps them reach this total each month.
