Story
Thank you for all of your donations so far for our initial target of £800 and our second target of £1000! Your generosity has been overwhelming, we are so grateful to all of you for your contributions. Let’s see if we can reach £1500 for CLAPA with your help!
One in 700 babies is born with a cleft; that’s three every day in the UK. Already, they face a 20-year treatment pathway, with many having their first surgery from just three months old.
During Cleft Awareness Week, my husband and I will be hiking Ben Nevis to raise money for CLAPA so they can support families like ours for years to come.
We cannot wait to take on our third Three Peaks summit this year to raise funds for a charity that is so close to our hearts.
We are doing this because our son, Arthur, was born with a complete unilateral cleft lip and palate. He has already undergone two major reconstructive surgeries and has hearing loss and speech and language difficulties because of his cleft. His journey isn't over yet, he will have to undergo a bone graft to repair his gum and potential palate revision surgeries in the future along with orthodontic, speech and hearing support through to adulthood.
CLAPA is the UK’s cleft lip and palate support charity. They support people from the moment of diagnosis with reassurance, information, and a welcoming community. They make sure no one affected by cleft in the UK goes through their journey alone.
CLAPA needs your help to continue to reach hundreds of families and adults in need each year. As a small charity, every pound counts, so please give generously to help fund their life-changing services.
Thank you for your support!
