Story
It pains me to say that my wonderful Dad was diagnosed with a ‘glioblastoma’ stage 4 brain tumour on August 8th last year.
He had emergency brain surgery and has been battling chemo and radiotherapy since. Life is very different for him now, there is no cure, the treatment is temporary and he is terminally ill.
Dad has been hugely grateful for those who have helped him since his diagnosis and he is always talking about giving something back and how he may be able to help others going through the same, now or in the future.
I've given some thought to how I can help him and have signed up for the London Landmarks half marathon in April. You all know I love a jog around the block or a Parkrun on a Saturday morning to keep the blood flowing but I have never had any desire to do anything more strenuous - in fact it fills me with dread! So I would really like to push myself to see if we can raise some money for The Brain Tumour Charity for Dad. I know that if he could, Dad would do it too. This will also be a tribute to my Grandma, Monica (my Dad’s mum) who we lost to a brain tumour some years ago. She is always in our hearts.
It’s always difficult asking people for money but if you can contribute anything we will be grateful for every single penny. Dad is just so inspirational - he never gives up and gives 1000% to every day. The run is on 6 April 2025. I’m worried about it- it might be a step too far but I’ll take a leaf out of my Dad's book and give it everything 💪 Xx
