Story
I moved to Sheffield in 2010 after an abusive relationship ended and I began to rebuild my life. Then I set Mums In Need (MIN) up in 2014 I began supporting women on-line initially and since 2016 we have been providing practical and emotional support to Mums in Sheffield & South Yorkshire. In 2018 we became a Registered Charity, and we will soon be coming up to our 5th Year Anniversary.
MIN is a unique support service for mothers suffering ongoing coercive control after separation from an abusive partner
Coercive control is an umbrella term describing a pattern of abuse which can include physical abuse, manipulation, intimidation and threatening behaviour used to terrorise the victim.
Many organisations help support escape from domestic abuse, but escape is not the end of the story. An escalation in relentless emotional and psychological abuse is common after separation and is often sustained through shared care with children.
We provide each mum with a package of support.
Our mums are appointed a dedicated Caseworker who keep in regular contact and will give them access to practical support such as legal support, 1:1 counselling, wellbeing and therapeutic sessions, and peer sessions.
Your donations will really make a difference to the lives of the families that we support. Thank you.
This year I aim to raise £2023 by mainly challenging my body and mind by a carrying out a variation of of physical exercise. I will log my activates on Strava so please feel free to follow me on there.
