Please add Fund Number 4639 to any donations to ensure your donations go straight to The Forget Me Not Fund, supporting parents through baby loss in late pregnancy or a neonatal death.
This year, with a group of bereaved parents, I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon (LLHM) on the 6th April to raise money for The Forget me Not Fund which is part of Hampshire Hospitals. We use the money to provide facilities to families in our care both during their stay in hospital and in the weeks and months that follow. This includes the upkeep of our bereavement suites across our hospitals, comfort packs and books, specialist bereavement counselling, holistic therapies for postnatal recovery, funding online support 'bundles' for miscarriage, TFMR, Stillbirth and Neonatal Death, the running of three support groups for bereavement, pregnancy after loss and parenting after loss, our Sands befriending clinic, resources and awareness events and we are the main sponsors for our local Sands United football team for Dads.
Pregnancy and baby loss affects so many, including my own family, so I will be running in memory of all babies gone to soon and those very close to my heart. It is a great privilege for myself and my Bereavement Midwife colleagues to be able to help families in the darkest of times. We want to continue to make sure that we can provide the services we have to support families at the time of their loss, in the months that follow and for some, care in a subsequent pregnancy. We also aim to break the taboo around this subject to prevent isolation at such awful times and to help create everlasting memories for the parents of babies taken too soon.
Thank you for reading, your donation, however big or small will be used to make a difference to a families in our care.
