Story
Together Trust's service Meridian are fundraising to make their garden more accessible for those they support - children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism associated conditions.
I have chosen to do a tandem sky dive at 15,000ft, 60 sec of freefall, which is the highest in the UK at The Black Knights Sky Diving Centre in Cockerham. I am doing this with 2 other colleagues to raise money for this amazing space that the young people that we support love to spend their time in with the staff having lots of fun and making memories.
Meridian is one of our short break services. They work in partnership with children, young people and their families to make sure those they support have fun, access and enjoy new activities and learn new skills whilst they are staying with them. The garden is so well loved and important by those who use the service.
The Meridian Garden is a special place for all of the young people who attend the service. When the local parks or other recreational activities are not able to meet the needs of the young people, the garden provides a safe space to explore, learn and most of all have fun. The garden is used all year round and we want to provide shelter and activities for the young people who like to be out rain or shine. The garden is a very large space and we want to be able to use it in different ways throughout the year for the young people and for all of them to get the most out of it.
We have many fundraising events throughout the year and aim to raise enough money to replace the soft flooring and to provide equipment such as an easily accessible ground level trampoline and a wooden gazebo.
