I am running the London Marathon 2024 for The Countess Charity Blue Skies Appeal! I am proud to be a member of the Countess team, as operational manager of The Milk Bank at Chester and am delighted to be able to take part in such an iconic event raising money for an incredible cause.

The Blue Skies Appeal is to build a garden balcony on our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) so that our poorly patients can benefit from the outdoors in a safe and infection-controlled environment. All patients, their visitors and staff are set to benefit from this innovative improvement that will make it easier and safer to move patients outside!

As a well-being ally for the Countess I understand the therapeutic benefits of outdoor exposure to natural light and gardens.

Outdoor exposure to natural light is proven not only to help to calm patients by providing opportunities for positive escape from stressful clinical settings, but also to foster improvement in clinical outcomes - such as reducing pain medication and shortening hospital stays.

Whilst I love the gym, running doesn’t come naturally to me, however I thrive off a challenge and am so passionate about the Blue Skies appeal, I know I can complete this mammoth task!
