We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Story

We will be completing the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge in September to raise awareness and fundraise for the The Brain Tumour Charity.

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, they are moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.

They are set on finding new treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change. And they're doing it right now. Because they understand that when you, or someone you love, is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can't wait.

Why we have chosen The Brain Tumour Charity:

Well it's for people like Jo, her son and family who have been through the devastating journey of a brain tumour diagnosis.

Working with Jo's sister Denise, the impact on family and friends is immense and just feeling the helplessness from Denise who just wants to protect her younger sister is heartbreaking.

To say we are in awe of the strength, courage and fight of Jo to go through this ordeal is an understatement

While walking the Three Peaks we will hope to gain some of her strength and positivity to complete this challenge.

Jo's Story:

After suffering with headaches for several months as the pain got worse, Jo decided it was time to see a doctor, what came next shocked Jo, her son Curtis, sister Denise and the whole family.

Jo was diagnosed with a brain tumour in March 2023 and had an operation to remove 95% of her tumour just 4 weeks later.

She spent 2 nights in hospital and was back at work after only 3 weeks. However, the recovery wasn't over. Jo had radiotherapy 5 days a week for 6 weeks then went through a course of preventative chemo, having her final round ending in June.

Jo has a grade 3 incurable oligodendroglioma with a life expectancy of 10-14 years return.
