Story

A WORD FROM JAMIE MASADA, CEO OF THE LAUGH FACTORY

I have always believed that ‘laughter is the best medicine’. Comedians are ‘doctors of the soul’. For over 40 years the Laugh Factory has nurtured comedians and helped all those in need. Even though the Writers and Actors strikes over it’s not going to be easy making up for all that was lost. There is still going to be a great need for those affected by the financial hardship it created for so many. All proceeds contributed to this Laugh Factory Fund will be primarily for the help and benefit of comedians and those who make their living in the world of comedy but have fallen on hard times no matter the cause. We know the struggles and hardships won’t be fixed overnight – but hopefully this is a start. As CEO of the Laugh Factory, I will make the first donation and look forward to the generosity of the whole community to help this fund grow. After all, sometimes laughter alone is not enough.

The Mission

The Entertainment Community Fund provides human services nationally for people who work in film, theater, television, music, opera, radio, dance, and COMEDY. The Fund is here for everyone on stage, camera and behind the scenes and has been since their founding in 1882.

The Fund's caring, professional and discreet staff address the specific needs of entertainment professionals—with a unique understanding of the challenges involved with a life in the arts, and with the knowledge of what it takes to thrive in an often unpredictable industry. To ensure the stability, encourage resiliency and be a safety net for those that shape our country's cultural vibrancy, the Fund offers health and wellness, career and life, and housing services.

It's Not Just About Money

Your donation helps the Entertainment Community Fund provide a needed lifeline to comedians. Through the Fund, comedians can access financial assistance, mental health services, health insurance counseling, affordable housing, and support developing supplemental streams of income to help build more stable lives. We invite you to explore their plethora of services at www.entertainmentcomunity.org.

Thank You!

On behalf of all of us at the Laugh Factory and those who have devoted their lives to bringing a smile to the world we thank you for your generosity.
