Leigh-Ann's Fundraising Page for RETT UK

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Welcome to my page beautiful people! Thank you for popping by! ❤️
So I’m taking on the London Marathon this year. The virtual course. 26.2 miles to complete on Sunday the 27th of April in exchange for additions to my catalogue of pre-existing leg injuries.
Running a marathon for a charitable cause has been a goal of mine since I moved to London. Finding the right charity to work alongside has been something that’s taken me time to secure but most importantly, for me, to “feel right” as I’ve been looking at ones that have played a part in my life or are close to my heart.
Then I came across Rett UK. Rett Syndrome is a rare genetic neurological disorder, primarily affecting girls. I lost my brother at a young age due to a rare congenital heart defect so immediately this felt like a right fit for me. It’s a lesser known charity which is all the more reason to help with vital fundraising. But they provide so much support to families and continue to conduct research which could one day provide a cure. This charity works in ways that are similar to the support that was provided to my family so anything I can do to help raise funds towards their work is truly a blessing.
I’m not asking you to sponsor me to do the run. I’m asking you to consider donating to this cause because it could affect any one of us starting a family or being part of a blended family with a child who has this condition.
Big love to you all and below is some more info from Rett UK if you fancy a read to gain a bit more insight xxx
Rett syndrome is devastating for a family. Having suspected something was not quite be right, suddenly they are told their child will be profoundly disabled, with multiple health problems including epilepsy, a curved spine, breathing problems, feeding difficulties and gut/bowel issues.
Rett UK is there to pick up the pieces; emotional support, high quality, accurate advice & information, advocacy, reducing isolation, empowering families, building emotional resilience and helping the person with Rett syndrome live a life worth living.
