Story

The Lalley Centre is a warm and welcoming Community Centre, food pantry and community allotment based in North Manchester, we support families and single people. Part of our role in the community is supporting those who are struggling to access affordable food, toiletries and period products, to supporting people to access suitable housing, this is such a small bit of how we support the local community.

Recently we supported a father in getting toys for his son's birthday he told us afterwards 'My son loved the present I felt like the best dad because of what you have given us, thank you so much' small gestures like this help people thrive in their lives.

We offer 1:1 work and group sessions including well-being sessions, parenting courses and gardening sessions for those who have been struggling in their life.

Alongside this, we show our attendees how to grow organic fruit and vegetables, we give these out in our food pantry and also allow anyone who helps us in the allotment to take some of their harvest home.

As May is National Walking month we are attempting to walk between 5k to 20k steps a day throughout May, On the 17th of May we're hosting a Walk with History at Sandhills Park starting at 9.30 am.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues to hit families and individuals locally hard, we’re seeing a hugely increased demand for our services.

Whether that’s people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless, people experiencing poverty, people facing isolation and discrimination, or people facing other acute crisis situations, it’s vital that we take action now to support them.

Will you please take on a challenge this year to help us work alongside local people so they can transform their lives?

From runs or sponsored walks, to playground challenges or sponsoring others who are taking on their own activity in aid of Caritas Salford, there are lots of ways you can get involved.

However you choose to take part, every step you take will make a huge difference to the lives of people in Greater Manchester
