Kyle's fundraiser for The Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice

131.08 miles walked over 7 days in June 2025. 236.6 miles cycled over 5 days in July 2025. I now travel to Europe! · 5 August 2025
Part 1 - The Walk
131.08 miles walked from the 18-25 June 2025.
I started this endeavour in June 2025 by walking from Wecock Farm, through Winchester, Andover and then arriving at Avebury Henge for the Summer Solstice on the 21st. At this point I had walked 75 miles.
My initial plans changed here and so after support from the police in Marlborough, staff at the hospital in Swindon, and after having visited my 92 years young aunt, I carried on by getting several buses back to Andover.
From June 23rd 2025 I walked from Andover, through Wnchester, then Fareham and completed my walk at South Parade Pier in Portsmouth.
Throughout this journey I slept in nature without a tent for 4 of the 7 nights, I slept in the studio of Pure gym for 1 night, at Swindon hospital another and in the middle of the journey, at my aunts.
Part 2 - The Cycle
236.6 miles cycled (some of that walked too) from the 21-26 July 2025.
I cycled 33 miles from Wecock Farm to Beaulieu in the New Forest on day 1, staying at a friend's farmhouse for the night.
On day 2 I cycled 43 miles from Beaulieu to Wareham, where I slept in the woods without a tent nor a sleeping bag.
Day 3 I cycled (and somewhat walked as my bikes chain decided to break) 65 miles from Wareham to Taunton. I slept partly in the studio and partly in the changing room of Pure gym Taunton.
Day 4 and after having my bikes chain replaced amongst several other services from the incredible On Your Bike charity in Taunton, I cycled 67 miles from Taunton to Combe Martin, arriving in North Devon at roughly 4am. Here I caught a little sleep on a bench.
Day 5 became a rest day. I cycled just over 4 miles to Ilfracombe. There I relaxed, enjoyed some good food, a dip in the ocean and stayed at the Ocean Backpackers youth hostel, which was incredibly pleasant.
On day 6 I cycled back to Combe Martin and then walked the entire coast line stretch of Holdstone Down, which was my goal! I then cycled to Barnstaple train station and made my way home via train. The mileage for that day was 26.9 miles.
I have been doing this to raise funds for the Chestnut Tree House children's hospice, and in menory of my father Pete who passed away aged just 56 in 2021, as well as other personal reasons including but not limited to breaking comfort zones, testing my mettle and embracing life fearlessly!
Almost £6 million is needed every year to provide care for the children and their families at the Chestnut Tree House, Sussex. Very little is government funded. The majority comes from donations, fundraising, gifts in wills, shops, the Chestnut Tree House lottery and volunteering. Please help support this wonderful charity that provides end of life care for children however you can :)
