Story
In 2003, I joined Public Counsel as a Liman Fellow. I now serve as Public Counsel’s Interim Vice President, Chief of Litigation & Legal Programs after recently handing over leadership of the organization to our new CEO. Along with our extraordinary development team, I continue to share responsibility for raising the much-needed funds to support our eight legal projects. Our mission is simple: Public Counsel is a nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to advancing civil rights and racial and economic justice, as well as to amplifying the power of our clients through comprehensive legal advocacy.
Founded on and strengthened by a pro bono legal service model, our staff and volunteers seek justice through direct legal services, promote healthy and resilient communities through education and outreach, and support community-led efforts to transform unjust systems through litigation and policy advocacy in and beyond Los Angeles. Notably, we value integrating social work into our legal practice to nurture a trauma-informed and client-centered culture throughout the organization. In these times, our innovative work is more important than ever.
