Story
With Logan’s first Birthday approaching (April 18) and the anniversary of Logan being admitted to the PICU at VGH, we have chosen to raise money for the unit that took care of him during the scariest time of our lives. The nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists and doctors in the PICU and Peds ward at VGH worked around the clock to ensure Logan was safe and they investigated every avenue until we had answers. For those who don’t know, Logan experienced what we now know were seizures, but due to his age these events stopped him from breathing. We had EMS respond to our home when he was 5 days old and spent the next 10 days in the Pediatric ICU at VGH. He underwent every investigation and while there continued to experience these traumatizing events of not breathing up until the Intesivist decided to try an anti seizure medication. Logan has recently fully weaned from this medication and is absolutely thriving as an almost 1 year old!
We witnessed first hand how truly caring these health care workers are. There is nobody that works harder or cares more. We will forever be grateful for them. We would also be so grateful if you could spare even a small donation towards Logan’s fundraiser. We want to give back to the hospital unit that made sure our baby came home to us. We will also have the opportunity to recognize the individual Health Care workers that contributed to Logan’s care. Logan is absolutely thriving and we are so incredibly thankful for our friends and family for being so supportive this past year. We also want to thank the Central Saanich Emergency crew that responded so quickly to our home.
Individuals and teams recognized as Caring Spirits are always deeply touched. They receive recognition from their supervisors and peers, a special Caring Spirit pin, a letter of congratulations and certificate. Being in a hospital can be a stressful experience, but when a caregivers words or actions ease that anxiety, when they provide the best care possible, it can make all the difference. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be attributed towards priority medical equipment that improves care for all patients. They were there when they were needed the most so join me in saying thanks to our hospital heroes.
