Story
"Success isn't how far you got, but the distance you travelled from where you started" - Steve Prefontaine.
10 Years ago, I raised money for the British Red Cross by completing the Great North Run Half Marathon. Since then, I have lost over 9 stone, finished 12 half marathons, 2 marathons (I’m also doing Snowdon Marathon in October) and a 50km Ultra Marathon….it’s now time to find an event to see what I can really do!!
May 2024 will therefore see me take on the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge, a 106km run (and walk!) with nearly 6000ft of elevation, taking in a full lap of the island.
Over the past few years, I know of a few families who have had to deal with their children being diagnosed with one form of cancer or another. As a parent myself, I can honestly think of nothing worse than having to go through that. I have decided to therefore raise money for Children with Cancer UK.
Our vision is a world where every child and young person survives cancer.
For 35 years, Children with Cancer UK has funded much needed research into the causes of childhood cancers, and the development of better, kinder treatments as well as funding initiatives that support children and their families through cancer treatment and beyond.
To date they have raised over £300 million, funded more than 300 research projects, invested £10 million into family homes near to hospital and arranged days out for 75000+ patients and families.
Below is a link to my JustGiving Page, anything you can give would be greatly appreciated, no matter how small. There will be some other events along the way to get me ready for the Challenge, keep an eye on here for updates.
