Story
On Sunday 7th April I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Refugee Action.
Over the past couple of years, we have increasingly seen the media and government vilify and scapegoat refugees in the supposed 'battle for our borders'. In all these statistics and stories, are real people who have had to flee their homes for fear of persecution and/or war. When refugees arrive in the UK, they are often left in limbo with little support from welfare institutions (contrary to media reports and political rhetoric) and face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives in a country that has politicised their refuge and any support they may receive.
Refugee Action exists to support refugees and people seeking asylum as they rebuild their lives in the UK. Their vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in Britain. They will get justice, live free from poverty and be able to successfully navigate starting a life in a new country.
Every donation to my page will allow Refugee Action to keep doing what they do best - providing expert support and advice to people seeking safety across the country and fighting for the rights of refugees.
Together, we can make the UK a more welcoming place for people forced to leave their homes. Thank you for supporting me!
