Overnight, simmering tensions in the Middle East appear to have tipped into an unprecedented escalation, sparking fears that the situation may deteriorate in the coming hours and days.

I am devastated to see the loss and suffering of so many innocent people. I deeply wish for an end to the decades-long suffering of so many Palestinian men, women and children. When will enough be enough?
