Story
I turned 50 this year & I wanted to take on a new type of challenge because as well as being a milestone birthday for me it’s that little bit more special. At 22 I was diagnosed with Acute promyelocytic leukaemia, my first course of chemotherapy didn’t work so I had to immediately have a newly devised treatment. There were times when the Consultant didn’t think I’d make it through the night, my weight got to below 6 stone & I couldn’t eat.
Luckily the treatment saved my life, so I along with some amazing friends have chosen Blood Cancer UK because they help fund research that saves lives, looks for less harsh treatments & looks to prevent blood cancers. Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I've included information about Blood Cancer UK below.
Blood Cancer UK are here to make the world a better place for blood cancer patients and their families. We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
