About me
For those of you that know me well, you'll know that I've never been a natural athlete, let alone distance runner, so taking part in the London Marathon this year is a big challenge...especially for my current ability level!
That being said, over the last few years and especially during Covid, running has become a bit of a hobby of mine. I applied for a London marathon place in a raffle hosted by the DisAbility Employee Resource Group (ERG) at my workplace; HSBC Innovation Banking.
Typically, this is the only raffle I've ever won (!!) but I'm genuinely delighted to have the opportunity to raise money for a fantastic charity and also to test myself.
At the time of writing, I am currently regretting my food choices over the festive period... cheese in particular, so slightly daunted by the sixteen week training schedule. This now ramps up very quickly so all moral support appreciated!
However, if you would also like to sponsor me, I'd appreciate whatever you can afford; no donation too small. Thank you in advance to those that do; it'll give me an extra push on the day. Thank you also to HSBC who will be contributing £500 to this fantastic cause.
Thanks again and see you at the finish line!
About my Charity: Scope
There are 16 million disabled people in the UK. That’s one in four of us. Life is harder when you’re disabled. You're twice as likely to be unemployed, getting care is a struggle and the cost of living is higher. It’s wrong and unacceptable.
So, I'm running the London Marathon for Scope to create a fairer society.
We want a future that’s fair to disabled people, always. Together we’ll use our collective power to change attitudes and end the injustice.
Join me in making this happen. Let's end disability inequality, today.
