Story
In 2014 my wonderful Nanny (Florence) was diagnosed with Huntington's disease.
"Huntington's disease is a condition that stops parts of the brain working properly over time. It's passed on (inherited) from a person's parents. It gets gradually worse over time and is usually fatal after a period of up to 20 years."
We are one of the lucky ones. Nanny's symptoms didn't start until later on in life and thankfully my Mum tested negative to the gene so my siblings and I are all in the clear. However it's been a tough and challenging road living with this awful condition, with Nanny now in a care home to receive the care and support she needs.
This September I am running the Great North Run to raise money and awareness for #TeamHDA.
The Huntington's Disease Association (HDA) "improve care and support services for people with Huntington's disease, educate families and professionals, and champion people's rights." You can find out more about them here: https://www.hda.org.uk/
Please donate anything you can - big or small :) and share, everything helps.
