Story
I am raising money for The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust (TADCT) as I lost my wonderful husband, Keith, to this condition in March 2021. Aged 53 years, fit, healthy and only two years into his police retirement, Keith passed away suddenly. The cause of his death was found to be an aortic dissection, a condition which is completely survivable if it is identified early enough.
Unfortunately, when Keith had attended A&E with chest pains the week before his death, he was diagnosed as having suffered a muscle spasm in his chest from lifting weights. In actual fact, the pain he was experiencing was a symptom of the early stages of an aortic dissection.
TADCT aims to fund research, educate and raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of this condition amongst medical practitioners to improve early diagnosis, thereby allowing the patient to receive the appropriate treatment to save their life.
I am running, walking, and generally "treading the mill" for a continual 12 hours at Dumbarton Police Office to raise money so that people like Keith can be saved.
