Our criminals have been sent down to contemplate their crimes while raising funds to pay their bail and get out of jail. They are counting on your support. Their freedom and reputation depend on it!

Story

Maggie’s Dundee approached local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's. To our delight they agreed, and here we are today. Our courageous jail birds have been charged with outrageous fictitious crimes and are now in cuffs and behind bars!

Bail for each has been set at £1,000 and now the criminals have been sent down to contemplate their crimes and go about raising funds to pay their bail.

Having traded in their freedom for Maggie's the challenge they face is to muster all their powers of persuasion and call on the collective goodwill of their networks to raise funds for Maggie's Dundee. Their freedom and their reputation depend on it!

Jail or bail is sure to be fun for everyone involved, but let's not forget the important reason behind the event: to raise funds for Maggie's Dundee.

For many people living in Tayside, Angus and North East Fife, Maggie's Dundee is a beacon of hope, offering a unique programme of practical and psychological support, available free of charge to people with any type and stage of cancer, and to their family and friends.

In the past decade Maggie’s Dundee has welcomed over 12,000 visits, provided thousands of hours of 1-2-1 psychological and specialist cancer support and last year secured over £2.1 million in financial gains for local people.

Maggie’s centres are places to find practical advice and emotional support; places to meet other people in a calm and friendly environment where people with cancer find the hope, determination, and the resources they need to cope with one of the toughest challenges any of us is likely to have to face. Maggie’s Dundee is one of 24 Maggie's Centres across the UK.

With over 50% of the population being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, it has never been more essential to have the support of Maggie’s alongside their medical care. Our own research shows that 3 in 5 people find the mental impact of diagnoses harder than the physical and that is why our programme of support is designed to deliver the best possible practical and psychological care.

Thank you for supporting Jail or Bail - please join in and give as you can to support our efforts. It is only because of the kindness and generosity of our supporters involved in activities like this, and gifts in wills that we can provide the best possible cancer support and continue to build more centres across the UK.

Thank you.
