Story
The Kier Inclusion Network (KIN) are supporting the Trussell Trust by taking part in the Dragon Boat Challenge.
The event, taking place on 6th June, will see 11 of our KIN members (hopefully!) sail past the competition in a series of Dragon Boat races, whilst raising money for a very worthy cause.
The Trussell Trust is the Kier Group charity partner, chosen by Kier people. The partnership will run from July 2023 – June 2025 where the money raised will support core programmes to help people living in poverty.
As well as volunteering and pro bono work we aim to raise £250,000 over two years to support the Trussell Trust to deliver the following core delivery programmes:
1. Helping people access emergency food.
In year one we will support cost of living resilience programmes that provide emergency support for people through access to foodbanks. Funding will be used to support running costs of food bank centres, buying food supplies and providing tailored training and support
2. Practical help to lift people out of poverty.
In year two we will support financial inclusion programmes that support people with access to money advice and support, making it less likely they will need to access a food bank in the future.
