In June 2023, I (Kimberley) was diagnosed with a brain tumour and mine and my family's life was turned upside down. I had two brain surgeries in the space of two months, battled sepsis, intense radiotherapy and now chemotherapy. During this short space of time, I found it difficult to find people who actually understood what I was feeling, my family and friends could empathise, but never truly understood how I felt. That's when I found Brain Tumour Support, the only charity in the UK that supports anyone affected by any type of brain tumour. The face-to-face and online support groups have been an invaluable support to me, supporting with resources on how to tell my young son "mummy's poorly", supporting my husband through what he explains as "the worst year of his life" and the list goes on.

The charity is in need of donations to continue this vital support for Brain Tumour patients (Like me!). In my Dad's words "You've gone mental!" but I plan to abseil down the highest point of Anfield on 28th July this year, to not only raise those vital funds but also, to face my fears and to stand as an advocate for the thousands of people and their families that face their own fears of battling life with a brain tumour diagnosis every day.

My wonderful childhood friend, Raj, has decided to support me in this crazy ordeal!

In all seriousness, I am so proud of my best friend, Kimberley. She has been through so much over the past year and has handled everything with such grace and with a smile on her face. Despite everything, Kimberley’s always thinking about how to help others and when she told me she wanted to do something “big” to raise money for Brain Tumour Support, I was of course on board with whatever she’s decided!

So that's how I found out that we’re doing an abseil down the side of one of Europe’s largest football stands and I think we’re absolutely crazy… but it has officially been booked and there’s no backing out now!

Kimberley has praised the work of Brain Tumour Support and I am so thankful for the charity supporting her in the most difficult time in her life.
