I have been lucky enough to secure a ballot space in 2025 London’s Marathon and believe it or not I’m excited!!

My chosen charity is The Astro Brain Tumour Fund which is very close to our hearts, it is a small charity but they are doing some amazing charity work.

The mission of Astro Brain Tumour Fund is to fund low-grade glioma research projects, and to provide a focus for the low-grade glioma community by offering a source of information, inspiration, connections and hope.

My reasons for choosing this charity is a little closer to home. I’m helping support my sister in law who is fighting the fight that no one wants to go through!

In June 2020 Amy was taking a regular trip to her local Sainsbury’s when she had a major seizure whilst driving, thankfully no one was injured. However after tests and scans Amy was diagnosed with a astrocytoma brain tumour.

Amy underwent brain surgery in Sept 2020 which was very successful with the majority of the tumour being removed. Unfortunately in April 2024 Amy was giving the news that the tumour had progressed and she would require further treatment. In July 2024 Amy went through a gruelling radiotherapy course and in September started a 9 months course of chemotherapy.

Amy is an absolute inspiration and if she can go through all this treatment and still remain strong then I know that I can complete this marathon with a smile on my face!
