On Saturday 16th July Myself, Aaron and Macie will be taking on the challenge of the Yorkshire 3 peaks to raise money for the Crohn’s and Colitis foundation.
I wanted to raise awareness of colitis in memory of Cameron Duxbury who at the age of 20 years young lost his precious life due to not enough awareness about this bowel disease.
Colitis is a bowel disease which affects the large intestine and the common symptoms of this include frequent diarrhea which may be bloody, stomach aches and needing to go to the toilet a lot. This can usually be treated with medicines that can reduce the inflammation in the digestive system if this is detected early enough. The peak ages for this disease are as young as 15 years old to 30 years old and then again at the ages 50 years old to 70 years old.
I have seen the devastation this has left on the whole of Cameron’s family and I would like to raise awareness to others about this disease and the importance of getting it treated as quickly as possible.
