Story
I'm running the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 for Dementia UK because through my job as a clinical manager for a domiciliary opticians, I regularly witness firsthand the profound impact dementia has on individuals and their loved ones—the confusion, the heartbreak, and the overwhelming challenges families face sometimes with little or no support. By running, I aim to raise funds that will help connect families with Admiral Nurses, ensuring they receive the compassionate care and resources they need during these difficult times.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
