Story
We desperately need to expand our sanctuary after 16 years of operating a vital lifeline for street animals in Sri Lanka.
We have 3 acres of adjoining land to our sanctuary that we lack funds to develop. With around 2500 rescues, many abuse survivors, plus critical dogs and cats turning up at our gates almost daily, we are at a crossroads and extremely stressed with the current situation we are in.
It's life and death for these critical cases, but due to lack of space in our developed 4 acres of land, many poor souls that we could have saved, are dying because we can't take them in. It's soul destroying.
We already have many new arrivals in our outside garage area as we have no space inside the sanctuary. Our clinics are also full with around 150 critical dogs and cats needing intensive treatments.
As a pro-life charity, we endeavour to save as many lives as we can and also home as many rehabilitated dogs and cats we can. The vast majority of the dogs and cats we take in, survive, despite the horrific states they arrive in. They just need that precious chance.
We are also caring for around 500 disabled dogs at the sanctuary, but need more compounds and space for them. We are having to refuse more disabled cases because we lack compounds and space to acommodate them. For those we can't take, many will die horrible deaths on the roads or be euthanized elsewhere. It's life or death.
To develop the new land we need at least £150,000. This will allow us to clear the land, get some important structures and compounds built, source a water supply, drainage system and connect electricity. We can continue development thereafter when funds allow. With an influx of funds, this development work can start soon. These delays are costing lives every day. It's heartbreaking !
The sooner we start, the better as more precious lives will be saved.
Please help if you can. So many lives depend on us expanding our sanctuary.
Thank you. x
