Story
My Dad died suddenly at home when I was 11 years old and my brother was 13. My Mum found him upstairs not breathing and Paramedics were not able to revive him. He had suffered a massive heart attack. He was only 33 years old.
The impact this had on my childhood was profound. My Dad was my absolute world and growing up without him was very hard. There was very little in the way of support back then and his death has affected me into adulthood.
I was lucky enough to get a ballot place to run London Marathon in 2020. Due to Covid and the Marathon being cancelled, I opted to run in 2023 and then I had to defer due to injury. In April 2024 I am finally fulfilling a dream and I will be running London Marathon in memory of my wonderful Dad for Jigsaw (South East) who I have chosen to use my ballot place to support to help other children who face bereavement.
Please visit their page here to see some of the wonderful work that they do: https://www.jigsawsoutheast.org.uk/
I have run four Half Marathon's but this will be my first Marathon. To say I am nervous is an understatement.... but I am also very excited! I am training hard and I will update this page with my training progress.
A word from Jigsaw (South East):
