TORBAY LIFEBOAT CREW
KILIMANJARO CHALLENGE 2023 - HELP US RAISE THE FLAG

The eight member team plan to climb the Northern Circuit in nine days, which we hope will allow sufficient time for acclimatisation. It is the same route as that followed by the Comic Relief team in 2019.
At 5,895 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro is the world’s highest free standing mountain. This is a difficult task not without risk, due to the altitude. That’s why the team have insisted upon taking along our station’s Lifeboat Medical Adviser, Dr Rob Bromige.
Team leader, and organiser of the whole project is Lifeboat crew Ian Barnaby. It also includes our Lifeboat Operations Manager, Nick O’Brien who explains why he is climbing in the short video we put together and posted onto YouTube.
The other five members of the team include Richard Fowler, Roger Good, Gary Fletcher, Simon James and Richard Burden.
Follow their progress on our old Twitter page @RNLITorbay which we’re cranking up, and our RNLITorbay Facebook page.
If they don’t get lost, we will welcome them back to Brixham with a big party at the end of February 2023.
