Story

What we're doing..

I am going to attempt to climb the 3 highest peaks of the UK - Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis. I will be doing this with my daughter, Ocean, on my back (since she is far too small to walk more than even a 100 meters - she also has gross motor developmental delay due to hypermobility)

Why are we fundraising for Women's Aid?

I have experienced the services of Women's Aid first hand, and that of Women's Refuge in NZ, and they were invaluable to me and my daughter. I would like to give back and thank them for providing advice and keeping me and my daughter safe during a very difficult time.

Did you know the police in England and Wales receive 100 calls every hour relating domestic abuse? (HMIC, 2015)

With three women being killed a fortnight by a current or ex-partner, so much needs to change before women are safe. This is why I am taking on this fundraiser to raise vital funds and awareness for survivors of domestic abuse, but I need your help.

And in addition to that...

I am also a solo mum and I want to encourage single parents to get out in nature and challenge themselves with their kids and show them what is possible. I am very aware that this challenge involves a small child and therefore will not apply the same risk taking to the challenge as I would if i was on my own. This does mean there is a significant chance that we could not make the summits but this challenge is also about spending time outdoors and introducing Ocean to the wonders of adventure. Whilst we wait for the right weather window, we will be camping, wild swimming, SUPing, short walks, parks, throwing balls and doing 'weeeeee' down slides! The 30 days of camping will be a challenge in itself!!

The difference your support can make

£10 Could fund 1 life-changing conversation between a professional Women's Aid support worker and a survivor of domestic abuse.
