TCS London Marathon 2025

My siblings and I recently used CRY to identify any heart conditions as we have a family history of cardiovascular disease. It was discovered that my brother (20) and sister (18) had irregular heartbeats. This then led them to both have heart monitors on their chests. Doctors diagnosed my sister with white wolf syndrome and found out that she has an accessory pathway. She recently had cardiac ablation surgery, which is a minimally invasive procedure that treats irregular heart rhythms by creating scar tissue in the heart. I want to run the London marathon and raise money for this charity. Without them, my family would not know about my siblings' conditions. With them both being sporty it could have had serious consequences. I want to give back to this charity so they can gain awareness and give multiple families the opportunity that mine have had.
Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds specialist referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.
